The player from Austria did what couldn’t be done last year, running true and closing out the win heads-up against Ukraine’s vip1010si to earn the title and more than $44K. Yesterday luk9r made the final table of Event #70, a $55 NL Hold’em 8-Max tournament with re-entries, on a single bullet. Unfortunately, it ended in second place for $29K at the hands of Vladimir “vovtroy” Troyanovskiy. Last year victory was within sight for Austria’s luk9r in Turbo Series Event #11, a $215 Bubble Rush NL Hold’em tourney. Congrats to girafganger7 on a huge Turbo Series Day 9. Two Turbo Series titles and more than $63K in winnings - even for the best, that’s a pretty nice haul. Juan Carlos “B4NKR0L元R” Vecino took second and $24K this time around, while girafganger’s second win on the day was worth $26K. The numbers were different but the result was the same, even down to the heads-up deal. Two and a half hours later girafganger7 was facing down twice as many opponents at the final table of Event #71, $215 NL Hold’em Fat Tuesday SE. In the end Canada’s exitonlyKK took second place and $30K, while girafganger earned $37K for the win.
The heads-up match lasted until just shy of 6pm ET.
First girafganger7 - a former world number one and currently the top-ranked player in the United Kingdom - struck a heads-up deal in Event #69, $215 NL Hold’em 4-Max.
